You slam the fridge door shut with a frustrated sigh. Gone. Again.
“Sanji!” you call out, turning toward the kitchen’s open doorway “Did you seriously use up all the strawberries already?”
The sound of a knife hitting a cutting board halts. Then, a smooth voice answers “Mon chéri, you wound me. As if I’d ever let our lovely Y/N go without.”
Sanji appears, a devilish smirk playing on his lips. With a flourish, he produces a small plate from behind his back, four perfectly sliced strawberries drizzled with chocolate “For you, ma belle.”
Your stomach betrays you with a quiet rumble. Damn him.
Before you can accept or reject the offering, a new voice scoffs from the other side of the room “Tch. You don’t need that sweet crap” Zoro mutters from where he sits, one leg draped over the other, sword resting against his shoulder.
You arch a brow “Excuse me?”
Zoro leans forward, balancing his elbow on his knee “If you want something good, have some sake with me instead.” He tilts a small bottle in your direction, eyes locked on you like it’s a challenge.
Sanji’s smile disappears in an instant “Oi, mosshead, don’t be ridiculous! Sake before noon? You’ll ruin her refined taste.”
Zoro smirks “Refined? She’s not some porcelain doll you have to coddle, curly-brow.”
“And she’s not some battle-hardened brute like you!” Sanji snaps, rolling up his sleeves.
You groan, rubbing your temples “Are you two really doing this right now?”
Neither of them pays you any mind. Their bickering escalates, Sanji accusing Zoro of having the palate of a wild animal, Zoro insisting that Sanji is overcompensating for his lack of strength.
You shake your head, popping one of the strawberries into your mouth. A little indulgence and a little chaos. Just another morning on the Sunny.
You sit at the dining table, halfway through your stolen strawberries, watching Zoro and Sanji continue their never-ending war. Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper peek in from the hallway, clearly entertained.
“Y/N, you should decide” Luffy suddenly declares, pointing at you.
You freeze mid-bite “Decide what?”
Luffy grins “Sake or strawberries?”
Zoro smirks “Hah. Easy win.”
Sanji scoffs, rolling his eyes “Like hell.” He turns to you with that charming, borderline dangerous smile “Come on, Y/N, tell these fools what real class is.”
Zoro leans in, arms crossed “Or maybe you’d rather handle your drinks like a real pirate.”
You chew slowly, suddenly regretting waking up this morning.
The rest of the crew gathers, waiting for your answer. Even Nami looks mildly interested. You consider your options carefully, choosing one side means feeding their egos for life.
So, naturally, you pick chaos.
“Why choose?” you say, swallowing the last bite “I can enjoy both.”
Silence.
“Tch. Cop-out answer” Zoro mutters, leaning back.
Sanji dramatically places a hand over his heart “Ah, but that means she appreciates my refined taste and your barbaric drinking habits. What a gracious woman.”
Zoro grunts “Whatever. I still bet I can outdrink both of you.”
Sanji’s eyebrow twitches “Bet? You think Y/N would waste a perfectly good night on your dumb drinking contests?”
“Why not?” Zoro smirks “Scared?”
Sanji slams a hand on the table “Fine. Let’s make it interesting.” He turns to you, eyes gleaming with something mischievous “You in, Y/N?”
You blink “Wait, what? I didn’t—”
“Too late, you’re in!” Luffy declares happily, completely ignoring your protests.
Zoro grins, reaching for his bottle “Hope you can keep up, sweetheart.”
Sanji flips his hair “Please. I’ll make sure the drinks are actually worth drinking.”
You exhale. It’s going to be a long night.
A small table, three bottles of sake, and an ever-growing audience. You sit between Zoro and Sanji, already regretting every choice that led to this moment.
“Rules are simple,” Usopp announces, playing referee “You drink, you keep drinking, and you don’t pass out. Last one still standing wins.”
“I’m not even sure why I agreed to this” you mutter, eyeing the sake bottle in front of you.
Zoro smirks “Too late to back out now.”
Sanji leans closer, resting an arm on the back of your chair “Don’t worry, ma belle, I won’t let this barbarian ruin your delicate palate.”
You grab the sake bottle and pour yourself a drink “I think I’ll survive.”
Luffy claps “Alright! Let’s go!”
Round One
The first sip burns, but it’s smooth. You let it settle, watching Zoro down his drink like it’s water. Sanji takes his time, savoring it like fine wine.
“You drink like an old man” Zoro snorts.
Sanji exhales, eyes closed “You drink like a dehydrated idiot.”
You ignore them and take another sip. The crew cheers.
Round Two
Zoro slams his empty cup down “You good, Y/N?”
You nod, feeling warm but steady “You’re not winning that easily.”
Sanji smirks, pouring another round “That’s the spirit, sweetheart.”
The competition continues. Shot after shot. Zoro stays unfazed. Sanji maintains his elegance. You’re somewhere in between, like buzzed, but totally determined.
Round Five… or Six?
You’re laughing now. At what? Who knows. But Zoro’s grumbling about something, Sanji’s dramatically ranting about “the art of pairing drinks" and Usopp’s trying to keep Luffy from stealing a bottle.
“You’re swayin’, sweetheart” Zoro points out, squinting at you.
You squint back “So are you.”
Sanji chuckles “I think we’ve reached our limit for tonight.”
Zoro frowns “Tch. Speak for yourself.” He tries to stand… and immediately sits back down.
The crew bursts into laughter.
You stretch, victorious “I think that means I win.”
Sanji grins “Ah, a truly magnificent woman.”
Zoro groans “Rematch. Tomorrow.”
You shake your head, leaning back “You two are impossible.”
But the warmth in your chest is not just the alcohol. It’s them.
The sun is way too bright.
You groan, turning over in your hammock, only to regret it immediately. Your head pounds, your mouth is dry, and worst of all there’s movement above you. Loud, heavy footsteps.
“Rise and shine, drunkards!” Nami’s voice cuts through your skull like a dagger “Time to work!”
You peek one eye open, barely registering the blurry figures around you. Zoro is slumped against the mast, arms crossed, snoring. Sanji is sprawled across a deck chair, one arm draped dramatically over his face.
“Ugh,” you mumble, sitting up “What happened?”
“You all lost,” Usopp informs you, grinning “Zoro passed out five minutes after you. Sanji tried to make breakfast but fell asleep with his head in the oven. Franky had to save him.”
Sanji groans “Don’t remind me.”
Zoro cracks an eye open “Tch. I still say I could’ve kept going.”
You rub your temples “You literally lost consciousness.”
“And yet, here I am. Still standing.” He shifts slightly against the mast, clearly not standing.
Sanji stretches, cracking his neck “Well, as much as I’d love to argue with the walking pile of bricks, I have a more pressing concern.” He looks at you, a mischievous glint in his eye “Did you enjoy yourself last night, ma chérie?”
You roll your eyes, but before you can answer—
“You laughed at all my jokes” Zoro interrupts.
Sanji gasps “That can’t be true.”
Zoro smirks “Oh, it is. She even said—”
You slap a hand over his mouth “Nope. Whatever embarrassing thing I said last night, we’re all forgetting it. Forever.”
Sanji chuckles “Oh, this is gold. Tell me more, mosshead.”
Zoro pulls your hand away, grinning lazily “She said I had nice arms.”
“Nice arms? His arms?” Sanji scoffs, crossing his own “Impossible. You must’ve misheard, mosshead.”
Zoro stretches, very deliberately flexing “Nah. She said it. Something about how they look strong but also—what was it? Surprisingly comfortable?”
Your soul leaves your body.
Sanji’s eyes narrow, and in an instant, he’s kneeling beside you, taking your hand like you’re some delicate princess “Ma chérie, tell me it’s not true. Surely, in your fine, inebriated state, you didn’t actually compliment this brute?”
You snatch your hand back “I was drunk!”
Zoro chuckles “Drunk words are sober thoughts, sweetheart.”
You throw a pillow at him “Then I take it back. Your arms are terrible.”
He catches it easily, smirking “Too late.”
Sanji leans in, studying your face with a devilish grin “If you were handing out compliments last night, what did you say about me?”
You freeze.
Zoro perks up “Oh yeah. You definitely said something about him too.”
Sanji’s eyes light up “Did she?”
You shake your head rapidly “Nope. Didn’t happen. He's obviously making fun of you.”
Usopp cackles from the sidelines “Oh, it definitely happened. Wanna hear what you said?”
You grab the nearest object, aka Nami’s sandal, and chuck it at him “Usopp, I swear—”
He ducks, laughing harder.
Sanji taps his chin, pretending to think “Let’s see… What would our dear Y/N have said about me in her drunken honesty?”
Luffy smiles “Something about your hands.”
Sanji blinks “My hands?” Then, realization dawns. His smirk turns dangerous “Oh~? Mon amour, were you admiring my hands last night?”
You feel your soul leaving your body again.
Usopp hums in fake thought “I think it was something like… ‘His hands are unfairly attractive’?”
Sanji gasps dramatically, clutching his chest “You do appreciate fine craftsmanship!”
“I AM GOING TO THROW MYSELF INTO THE SEA.”
Sanji laughs, reaching for your hand again “I can give you a proper demonstration, if you like.”
Zoro rolls his eyes “Gross.”
You groan, burying your face in your hands “This is the worst day of my life.”
Luffy grins “Nah, this is fun! Let’s drink again tonight!”
Absolutely. Not.
The teasing doesn’t stop there.
For the rest of the day, every time Sanji hands you something, he makes sure you see his hands. Passing you a plate? He does it with a dramatic flourish. Offering you a napkin? He takes your fingers in his and presses it gently into your palm, like he’s bestowing a royal gift.
“Enjoying the view, ma chérie?” he purrs, winking.
Meanwhile, Zoro has taken to flexing at random intervals. Not obvious flexing, just enough movement when he stretches or crosses his arms to remind you of your past mistake.
“Need help carrying that?” he asks when you’re lifting a barrel, voice full of smug amusement.
“No.” you deadpan.
He grins “Shame. Would’ve been a good excuse to admire my arms again.”
You consider throwing the barrel at him.
The crew is no help. Usopp won’t stop laughing, Nami looks too entertained, and Luffy keeps saying “Y/N, say more funny drunk things!” like you’re a performing seal.
By dinner, you’ve had enough.
You slam your cup down “Fine! Yes! I said things! But you two are the ones who won’t let it go!”
Zoro smirks “Because it’s fun.”
Sanji grins “Because it’s true.”
You glare “You wish I was thinking those things sober.”
Sanji leans closer, voice dropping just for you “Who says you’re not?”
Zoro tilts his head “If you weren’t thinking it, you wouldn’t be so worked up.”
You open your mouth just to snap it shut right away. They’re both infuriating.
Sanji smirks, Zoro smirks, and you swear if one more person smirks at you tonight, you will riot.
“Dinner’s over,” you declare, standing “I’m going to bed. Alone.”
Sanji laughs “Sweet dreams, ma belle.”
Usopp grins “Try not to dream about their unfairly attractive features.”
You definitely thought of throwing a fork at them all.
But, you should’ve known better than to expect peace.
Zoro doesn’t move his arm, making you stop from leaving. If anything, he pulls you in just a little closer, the warmth of his body radiating through your clothes. His grip is easy, familiar, possessive.
Sanji clicks his tongue, slipping closer to you. His hand finds your knee under the table, tracing small circles against your skin like a silent counterclaim “Tch. Just because she tolerates you doesn’t mean she’s just yours, mosshead.”
Everyone watching with interest, not talking.
You glance between the two, heat creeping up your neck “Do I get a say in this conversation?”
“No” they say in unison.
You groan, grabbing a roll from the table and biting into it aggressively. You let them act like this, and they know it.
Because the truth is whatever this is between the three of you, it’s long past subtle.
It’s in the way Sanji always makes your plate first at dinner, and how Zoro wordlessly steals bites from it without a second thought. It’s in the way Zoro keeps a hand on your waist when you stand at the railing together, and how Sanji absentmindedly tucks your hair behind your ear while he talks.
It’s in the quiet moments. The ones the rest of the crew pretends not to see.
Like last night.
When you were cold, and Zoro pulled you into his arms without hesitation. When Sanji draped his jacket over you both and muttered “Idiots… the both of you” before settling beside you.
When you fell asleep between them, feeling warmer than you ever had before.
But none of you say it out loud.
And yet, here they are, arguing over you like you aren’t already theirs.
Sanji sighs, tilting his head toward you “You deserve better, mon amour.”
Zoro grins lazily “And yet, here she is.”
You roll your eyes, finishing your bread “You’re both ridiculous.”
Zoro hums “Yeah, but you love us anyway.”
You freeze.
Sanji stills.
Everyone gasps while Luffy starts laughing as if that's the funniest thing he ever saw.
Zoro blinks “…Did I say that out loud?”
Sanji smirks “Oh-ho, you did.”
Your heart pounds. Because the worst part?
Zoro’s not wrong.

Since y'all seemed to like this I'll keep rambling on the subject, I can do this all day. Here are some of those examples where I think their friendship really shines through:

From Sanji's perspective, this guy just showed up outside his restaurant one day, dueled the legendary swordsman who slashed Don Krieg's fleet to pieces, willingly got cut almost in two, nearly bled to death, was tied up by his own crew and then captured by the Arlong pirates, still singlehandedly escaped and came back to join the fight and defeated one of Arlong's best fighters, then nearly bled to death again and woke up just in time to drink himself silly at the afterparty. I've heard people say they "match each other's freak" and that's the truth. Sanji watches this absolute wackadoodle of a man and knows he's found someone who matches his freak. From Zoro's point of view, some cook at a floating restaurant just fed all of their enemies out of principle before kicking their butts. How could he not respect that sort of unconditional adherence to a sense of honor and justice? Especially considering he himself experienced starvation not too long ago in Shells Town. Now this cook, the newest stray in Luffy's collection, immediately proves himself to be immensely capable both in the kitchen and on the battlefield, incurs injury to himself without complaint to protect these people he barely knows, and still is the only person to come sit by Zoro and check up on him. So Zoro knows that Sanji has a heart of pure gold, and I think that's a big part of why he gets frustrated when Sanji tries to cover it up with bravado and perviness.

This scene was really interesting to me because usually when someone demands that Zoro does something, he grouches and grumbles about it, so in this case it seems he just spontaneously started helping out himself. And if there was ever a man whose love language is acts of service, it's Roronoa Zoro. He seems to be more of a "companionable silence" kind of guy, while Sanji's a talker and will say anything to keep feeling connected. Now, I don't know if this is just a me thing, but I like to say my friends' names a lot, even just because the association with them brings me joy, but I rarely use the names of people I'm not close with except to refer to them in third person or to get their attention. In this scene, it seems to me that Sanji keeps repeating Zoro's name as a way to show he's thinking about him and appreciates him being there, though I might just be projecting.

Now, I know shippers go crazy over this one, but I think it's honestly really solid platonic evidence and I'll tell you why (not to dissuade shipping, I think you have to be friends before you can be more than friends so all of this can be fuel for the ship too if you want it to be). Firstly, they're comfortable enough to sleep this close together. Sanji's resting his sleepy head right on Zoro's shoulder (it should have been me, not him) and Zoro just lets him. Also note real quick, only a short distance away Luffy is using Usopp as a pillow, so they're all a cuddly cozy little family. When Zoro notices Sanji mistakenly trying to kiss him, he doesn't even move away, he just makes a face and waits for Sanji to wake up so he can make fun of him. Sanji, for his part, doesn't act embarrassed or disgusted that it turned out to be Zoro there, only playfully mad about his expression. They squabble for a few moments before Luffy pushes past them and they turn their attention to the next thing, argument forgotten, proving that neither was actually angry about anything and they were merely enjoying the opportunity to bicker.

This is from the hunting competition in Little Garden that I mentioned before. I just wanted to point out that both of them are grinning and clearly having a grand time.

(I love how Sanji's hands are just massive sometimes.) They have the entire forest clearing, and Sanji chooses to sit his little booty down right next to Zoro and toss his food at him. They're just like those kids in elementary who had beef over who has a more impressive Pokémon collection and would always sit next to each other at lunch to compare cards and play together at recess but claim they're archnemeses. And for as much as Sanji implied to Usopp (though oblivious) that the heart shaped vegetables were just for the ladies, he did choose to make it and serve it to the whole crew. Speaking of the ladies, Sanji is always adamant about protecting them, but he was perfectly fine with leaving Nami and Robin in Zoro's care, just as Zoro trusted Sanji to take care of Luffy and Usopp.
I also loved how Sanji packed Zoro a cute little lunchbox for exploring and he was NOT going to let no stupid south bird take it from him.
Alright that's all for today folks I gotta wake up in like 5 hours for work lol

Sanjis love life can be summed up as a series of one night stands.
Thats never the way he wanted it to be though
He dreams of love, of a real connection, of building a home.
But it seems everytime he finds someone, all they want to do is fall into bed with him, then ghost.
He would almost convince himself that hes just bad at sex, but sometimes one of his ex's will text him, make it clear theyre not looking for anything serious just another 'fun night'.
So hes not a bad lover, just unlovable
He hates himself for everytime he agrees to meet back up with one of them. Eventually, when being seen as no more than a warm body begins to wear him down, when it begins to hurt to much to continue on, he will block that persons number, vow not to fall back into such a self destructive pattern.
Until he does.
Over and over.
When he meets Luffy and his friends, well, its not the type of love Sanji has always been searching for, but with them theres a connection and its real.
And from Luffy, Sanji meets Zoro. Their friendship may be unusual, but its there. Its there with their shared looks of exasperation at Luffys antics, its there through their bickering, its there in their shared silences.
Until Zoro goes and asks him out.
Sanji is pre-emptively hurt by this. He thought they got along -in their own unique way- but now he knows Zoros just going to be another person to take a tumble in his sheets, then forget about Sanji entirely. Maybe take all their other friends with him when he leaves.
Still, Sanji says yes. As painful as it will end, as it always ends, Sanji knows he wont ever get what he longs for if he doesnt grasp at any chance hes shown.
They go on a few dates. Zoro is not the most romantic person by any standard. But they have fun, they talk, they get lost, they get to know each other.
Its the fourth or fifth date when after walking Sanji home Zoro says goodnight, makes a face, darts in to smush their lips together, says 'goodnight' again and takes off at a brisk pace. It leaves Sanji standing stunned for a good minute. When he wraps his head around their first kiss he cant help but laugh fondly over how adorable and awkward Zoro can apparently be.
Its a few more dates after that when Sanji starts to get antsy. Zoro has never pushed for more, theyve only shared a few chaste kisses, but Sanji knows. He knows either he sleeps with Zoro and he loses him. Or he doesnt sleep with him, Zoro gets bored and Sanji loses him.
So after their next date Sanji brings him home. Bring Zoro to his room.
Its intense.
Zoro watches him, studies what Sanji likes. Makes himself vulnerable too.
Sanji has never had sex like it before, cant imagine having an experience like it with anyone else.
And in the morning Zoros still there. Snoring away beside him.
Sanji knows that that doesnt have to mean anything.
He cooks breakfast and Zoro wanders into the kitchen half asleep. But Sanji knows, once Zoro has some food, once hes a little more awake, the man will leave.
But he doesnt.
They spend half the day together, Sanji spending it in a confused daze.
They go out on more dates.
Zoro holds his hand in public.
Presses a kiss to Sanjis temple and only waves off their friends teasing when he does.
Its the morning after the third time they spend a night together when Sanji finally breaks down.
The early morning light is soft through his curtains. Zoro is snoring spread out beside him, and Sanji, sitting up, starring at him, bursts into tears.
Zoro wakes up confused, tries to ask whats wrong, but Sanji is sobbing too hard to explain. Not that Sanji would even know what to say.
So Zoro wraps his arms around him, pulls Sanji in close. Rubs soothing circles on his back and tells him "I've got you. I've got you."
And thats when it hits him.
Thats when Sanji knows; Zoros planning on staying

more zosan reversed tropes bc uni wants me dead and this is my way of coping:
not fake dating, but where everyone is super convinced that they aren't ACTUALLY dating...
One day, Zoro and Sanji call everyone over and announce that they are getting engaged. It comes as a big shock to almost everyone because: 1. they say it too matter-of-factly, with disdain almost; 2. they never told anyone they were dating. Luffy, being Luffy is very happy for them and tells them they can't get married if he doesn't wed them as their captain. They respond that they never expected anything else. Robin and Franky congratulate them, Brook starts getting ready with the music, but Nami and Usopp? Nami and Usopp couldn't believe it. And they refused to let everyone else believe this lie. They decided that both Sanji and Zoro are lying, but why??
They make a makeshift investigation, but it turns out that Luffy and Robin genuinely believe them, Franky and Jinbei think it's none of their business and they can't bring themselves to break it to Chopper and Brook because they were too happy to attend a wedding. Soit was up to Nami and Usopp to prove to everyone else that there was no way they're dating.
At first they start looking at how they interact with each other. It was obvious they were faking it - they never started bickering and fighting and even when they just sat in silence Sanji would throw a ladle in Zoro's direction because he's snoring too loud. Or Zoro would make a biting comment about Sanji and it would start all over again.
But that was how they usually were, so it wouldn't prove much if some of their friends were so willing to accept their announcement at face value knowing they act like this. So Nami takes upon talking to Zoro in private, while Usopp talks to Sanji in private.
At first, Nami starts telling him how she would take money off his debt if he tells her the truth, but then he says the same thing that he said to the crew. That yes, the cook is a pain in the ass, but they love each other and want to get married. She threatens to tax him for lying, but he keeps insisting there's nothing else to say. She meets up with Usopp again, hoping that he did a better job than her, but he just said that Sanji caught onto him from the start saying it's for real and whatever he's scheming will not work.
They change tactics and switch partners, hoping that Nami will have more luck with Sanji, as he can't say no to her, and Usopp can try getting under Zoro's skin.
Usopp starts off by telling Zoro about how a great swordsman should have a nice and powerful partner, mentioning Hiyori, but then the unexpected happens and starts almost defending Sanji as his choice. "Sanji is stronger and nicer than her." "He's a worthy opponent and we already have the same priorities (Luffy)", "He's stubborn and driven, it's great." he says it all with a shrug and Usopp almost feels like he misheard him. "But you always fight?" Usopp says as a last resort. Zoro smiles widely "Yeah, it keeps me on my toes, my blood pumping. I love him so much, Usopp."
The sniper wasn't sure he wanted to prove they weren't a couple anymore. In fact he was starting to believe them. Nami came back with an equally defeated face. Nami tried using her charm, but Sanji kept going "Alas, my dearest Nami, Zoro and I are really getting married, unfortunately it is no joke. Unless you'd like me to take you out on a date!" And in desperation, Nami said "yes", but then Sanji flipped a switch. Saying there's no way, he was just joking and he'd never do that to Zoro. He's done self sabotaging and he really doesn't want to ruin things for them.
Robin overheats then and goes. "Oh, why didn't you ask me. I've seen them sneaking into toilets and private places like teenagers for months now."
And the theory had been debunked.

Made up fic title: The cookie cutter conspiracy
I admit I puzzled over this one for the title meme but then it came to me :D
~~~
Usopp has had it up to here with Sanji and Zoro. Everyone on board thinks that they should just kiss already; at least, Usopp thinks that. Luffy just shrugs and says he’s sure they’ll figure it out. Nami thinks it would make them worse. Usopp is totally right about this, though, has never been wrong in all of the matches he’s put together. (Zero matches, technically, but he’s still never been wrong.) So he devises a brilliant plan to shove the two soon-to-be lovebirds together.
He starts small, with a cookie cutter. It’s shaped like a heart, perfectly symbolic. It feels like a good omen, a sign that he’s doing the right thing. He takes it out of the Merry’s galley and places it in Zoro’s hammock and goes to sleep secure in the knowledge of a job well done.
The next morning Zoro and Sanji bicker over breakfast, apparently no more (but also no less) in love than they were yesterday. All right. Stronger measures are needed.
In the following days he places several items in Zoro’s hammock: a pastry brush; a meat thermometer; a fancy bottle of cooking oil; a jar of some kind of spice Usopp’s never heard of. Nothing. The items disappear out of Zoro’s hammock and he continues to fight with Sanji and if they don’t kiss soon Usopp’s head is going to explode.
He briefly contemplates trying for one of Sanji’s knives, but the one time he had even considered reaching for one Sanji had materialized out of thin air with a smile and asked if Usopp needed help with anything. Usopp had recognized the baring of teeth for what it was and hightailed it out of there. Leaving a knife on Zoro’s pillow probably sends the wrong message anyway.
Usopp has just about given up. Maybe these two idiots do need to sort this out on their own.
Usopp is enjoying a quiet afternoon tea, eyeing the garlic braids on the galley wall and wondering if Zoro would think they were some sort of vampirism comment, when Zoro storms in carrying a pillowcase. Sanji turns from the sink as Zoro upends the pillowcase on the counter, spilling out a pastry brush, a meat thermometer, a heart-shaped cookie cutter, and every other item Usopp has left in his hammock over the last few weeks.
“Stop leaving your shit in my bed,” Zoro says, leaning both hands on the counter in a way that highlights his arms. “Or I’m going to do something about it.”
Sanji glances down at the counter, then up at Zoro’s face. He picks up the cookie cutter.
“I’ve been looking for this for weeks,” he snaps. “What do you mean you’ve had it all this time?”
“It’s annoying,” Zoro continues, dodging the question. “If you want something, just ask for it.”
Sanji’s eyes narrow, and he rounds the counter. “What I want,” he says, stepping into Zoro’s space, “is to know why you didn’t return this immediately. If it’s such an annoyance.” Sanji lifts his hands to make air quotes and Zoro grabs his wrists.
Usopp holds his breath, not daring to move. This is it.
Sanji’s cheeks flare pink and he tries to jerk away, but Zoro holds fast and doesn’t let him, pulling him closer on the rebound. This is escalating fast. Maybe Usopp should try to sneak away, he can do it real quiet-like —
Zoro makes a frustrated sound and leans in and Usopp just barely claps a hand over his mouth in time to contain the whoop when Sanji presses into the kiss. This is success, this is victory, Nami is going to be sorry she ever doubted him. Sanji makes a noise and tears his hands out of Zoro’s grasp, sliding them over Zoro’s shoulder’s and into his hair instead. Zoro backs Sanji into the counter and they’re still kissing and Zoro is sliding a leg between Sanji’s and —
Discretion is definitely the better part of valor here. Usopp takes his tea with him, moving quietly and cat-like; the effort is probably wasted based on the sounds that follow him out into the corridor but it feels like the right thing to do.
Usopp takes a sip of his tea as he heads for the helm and Nami. Another great match made by the great Captain Usopp; all in a day’s work.
I feel like Zoro's three sword style and facility with counting would be a very transferable skillset when it comes to making socks.
So now I headcanon that whenever he's got downtime not training or napping or bickering with Sanji, Zoro settles in to make socks for the crew.
The first pair he ever makes is actually for Nami. They are a little too big in that way that is actually perfectly slouchy and comfortable, and she secretly adores them and wears them on chilly nights while map making.
...I think he probably learned knitting from Perona, actually? So maybe he has socks for the whole crew when he gets back to Sabaody. Except Luffy, and Frankie, who obviously wouldn't wear them. And Brook, whose sizing he couldn't figure out (what would you even measure??). Those three get scarves.
He honestly tried to still make socks for Chopper, but... Well. There were obvious challenges to making socks for something furry and with hooves. He wound up making leg warmers. They have little snowflakes on them.
Usopp's socks are basic, with a bold horizontal stripe pattern in goldenrod yellow, reminiscent of the color of Sogeking's mask. Perona INSISTS on making some cute little felted sheep bobbles to go with them because the socks are Not Cute, but Zoro is too embarrassed to attach them. They become a bag charm. Zoro specifically tells him it's from Perona and smirks when he goes pale.
Robin's socks are better fitted, and slightly more elegant than Nami's, since he started on them so much later in his learning process. They have a whimsical floral motif, and are made from a yarn Perona picked out for her. It is quite possibly the softest thing Zoro has ever touched, and the socks feel like clouds when they're finished.
The real challenge turns out to be making socks for the cook. Sanji is fussy about his clothes, and Zoro knows how hard he is on his feet. He ends up making a very basic pair of suit socks in a deep, rich blue so dark it's nearly black... It takes him three times as long to make them as any other pair he's made, because he keeps starting over.
In fact, he's still working on them on the boat back to Sabaody. He finishes just in time, and Perona steals them away and wraps them up like everyone else's gifts before he can start over again. The first time Zoro sees Sanji light his own foot on fire, he winces and reconsiders whether he should even give them to him. But in the end he does anyway.
(Of course he also made socks for Perona and Mihawk. You think Perona taught him to knit for no reason? Hers are THIGH HIGHS, for fuck's sake! They took FOREVER.)
part 4 of straw hat! Ichiji and we're at the last legs of the East Blue Saga; Arlong Park and Loguetown arcs
finding Nami and encountering the Fish Men
Ichiji arrives to a new island, along with Sanji and his new captain Luffy. on the journey there, he and the others were filled in by Johnny and Yosaku about what happened previously.
Sanji is in denial that Nami would have anything to do with Arlong while Ichiji is more rational and believes that there might be blackmail involved.
when they re-encounter Nami again, Ichiji realizes that he was right in his theory but he doesn't have the whole story and he decides that he can't interfere with something he have no business with, not when Nami rejects them.
Ichiji becomes very annoyed with Sanji's lovestruck behavior and outright tells Zoro that he has his full permission to fight Sanji if it shuts him up (and Zoro took that to heart, judging of how many times he would bicker and fight with Sanji in the future XD)
"Fight him, argue with him, tie him up, kick him in the ocean-I don't care! Just make sure he doesn't make a damn fool out of himself! I need to think." - Ichiji's exact words.
Ichiji, in dire situations, is a thinker and he sense that something is wrong here. compared to his crew maters, Ichiji responds to being attacked by the Fish-Men in a rather cold, calculated way. he hates to admit it to himself, but his training at Germa never left him and he uses it to his advantage. the Fish-Men discovers the hard way that Ichiji is not a "normal human" when he takes barely a scratch or even a bruise. when asked what he is, Ichiji replies in a chilling way
"Oh, I'm no human. I'm a monster."
Arlong, upon hearing about this, decides that Ichiji could be useful for him and orders his goons to take him alive to Arlong Park.
common ground with Nami
when the straw hats re-encounter Nami during her breakdown of being betrayed by Arlong, Ichiji understands that they're not so different after all; both of them has made a deal with a "devil" to save something they love (Ichiji, for Sanji and Nami, for her village). when Luffy declares that they're moving out to Arlong Park to defeat Arlong, Ichiji extends a hand to Nami and tells her that he has, also, sacrificed like Nami.
Ichiji then parts the hair that covers his left eye and reveals to Nami and the straw hats his secret; there's a star-burst shaped burn scar on his left eye. his eye is unharmed, but he tells them this was the prize to pay for the freedom of someone he loves. Sanji is the only one who isn't surprised about this revelation, but he looks away before anyone can see he's silently crying. Zoro catches on Sanji's reaction but says nothing (because what can he possibly say in this situation?)
they walk to Arlong Park, in the badass iconic way as they do
fighting Arlong and the Fish Men
Ichiji fights with his legs, just as Sanji does, and this is where he unlocks "Sparkling Red" for the first time. his new "power" reinforces his kicks in a more powerful way. Ichiji doesn't know what's happening to him and he has a mild crisis over it until Zoro shouts at him to focus on the fight and worry about that later
it doesn't take long for him to understand that whatever Judge experimented on his during those six months of hell is now paying off; he knows that something has changed and he has a strange power, but he uses now Sparkling Red to his advantage
of course, in a very villain-esque way, Ichiji do encounter Arlong and he gets the whole speech about a human-looking non-human would belong with his midst. Ichiji coldly laughs at the idea and says "why would I align myself with someone who doesn't keep their word? a true man would always keep his word, fish-men or not."
he reflects back on Zeff's "lessons" about being a man. the third lesson was that a real man always keep his word and stands for it.
with Sparkling Red enhancing his speed and strength, Ichiji no longer holds back and defeat most Fish-Men (the force of Sparkling Red spreads across his legs, like sparkling red lines wrapped around his legs and thighs)
he gets worried about Zoro a lot (he got his wounds reopened and has a fever), but trusts that they can pull through this and they can address Zoro's injuries afterwards
Ichiji panics when he sees Arlong Park collapse and nearly assumes the worst...until Luffy emerges from the wreckage and claims victory. overwhelmed with joy, Ichiji can't resist from hugging Usopp and dances merrily with him.
the mood is nearly ruined because of corrupt Marines and Ichiji learns fast from Nami what happened to the money she had struggled to earn to buy her village back from Arlong.
now, it's already established that Ichiji hates marines, due to they always turn to the Baratie being entitled bastards and this doesn't help. he calmly walks to Nami's side when she beats up Nezumi (the corrupt marine captain) and asks for her permission to handle this. and Ichiji just gives Nezumi a real slasher smile and says "i've never liked Marines, they always come to the Baratie and acts like entitled bastards who owns the world. but i hate corrupt marines even more. how about...there is one less corrupt marine in the world?"
he doesn't really plan to kill Nezumi, btw. but he wanted to scare him shitless...which works. Usopp later remarks that he was a little scared too and it felt like Ichiji could set the whole world on fire and destroy kingdoms with just his glare.
leaving Cocoyashi and Luffy's first bounty
the straw hats spends three days on the island, which allows Zoro to get healed up and the whole island parties to celebrate their newfound freedom. Ichiji takes in all the joy around himself and he feels at ease, seeing so many people so happy.
he thinks about Germa and silently wonders that if Judge had been a half-decent person, could've Germa Kingdom become something like this? a small kingdom, but with good monarchs and happy people. he sits down and looks up in the night skies, wondering if his mother are seeing him and Sanji and if she would be happy to see them happy and free.
onboard the Merry, the straw hats are sailing towards their last stop before the Grand Line...Loguetown, which is famous for being the birthplace and deathplace of Gold Roger, the infamous Pirate King
Luffy's first wanted poster has arrived and the crew is shocked to see his head is worth 30 million berry. Usopp is especially happy to see himself in the background of the wanted poster (just the back of his head, tho) which irks at Sanji's annoyance. Luffy, Usopp and Sanji acts silly while Nami is frustrated over their lack of taking this seriously.
Ichiji is more concerned since he figured that with Luffy having a 30 million bounty on his head, stronger opponent might come after them. he goes to consult Zoro about this and Zoro reveals that he had the same mindset, having one solution; they need to become stronger and more prepared.
Ichiji says it's only a matter of time until all of them gets a bounty on their heads. Zoro smirks at this and bets that he'll get his first wanted poster before Sanji.
entering Loguetown and cursed swords
as they docks at Loguetown, Ichiji decides to accompany Zoro when he aims to find two new swords to replace his destroyed ones (by Mihawk). Ichiji, who was trained in swordmanship at Germa when he was a child, advises him to inquire a shopkeeper about the quality about the words they're potentially selling.
Zoro jokes that he didn't know he had a hidden rival regarding swordmanship on the crew. Ichiji only shakes his head and says he doesn't aim to become a swordsman, just because he knows how to fight with swords, and his dream is to chronicle their adventures. Zoro asks him if he would write a book about him becoming the world's greatest swordsman and Ichiji answers "what made you believe that I wasn't already?"
this ends up in their first meeting with Tashigi, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Zoro's deceased friend Kuina, and Ichiji senses that Zoro is agitated, trying to calm him down. he also witnesses Zoro's "test of luck" and has a panic-induced anxiety...until he sees that Zoro's luck won against Sandai Kitetsu's "curse". Zoro also obtains Yubashiri, an heirloom blade and the finest one in shop. Ichiji feels very honored of witnessing this moment and declares to Zoro that he's certain that Zoro's adventures as a swordman will become a very good book.
Ichiji doesn't have a too high opinion of Tashigi, considering his distaste for marines in general, and he's quick to counter her argument regarding pirates or bountyhunters using legacy katana swords.
"And I suppose you are the one who decides who gets to bear a sword then? A sword is a responsibility and you bear it with honor and respect. To bear a blade like Wado Ichimonji, Sandai Kitetsu or Yubashiri...it's a big honor and their owner treats his swords like companions, not as tools. A word of advice, my lady. Don't assume things when you don't have the full story. It'll save you the embarrassment of being wrong." - Ichiji, during his call-out to Tashigi
Luffy's "execution" and Ichiji's "rage"
Ichiji is horrified when he sees Luffy being nearly executed and he's furious at the responsible pirates behind it. he shouts at Buggy, asking who he think he is to lead someone in a trap to execute them and where is his proper honor, that he should fight like a pirate, face to face
(Buggy is visibly annoyed by Ichiji's outburst and it doesn't help that he doesn't see a new pirate face. all of sudden...he sees a replica of Shanks)
the events that unfolds is pretty quick. Luffy is rescued by a cloaked "stranger", Smoker is unnerved by Luffy being similar to Gold Roger and Buggy, Alvida and their goons are defeated
Zoro and Ichiji, along with Sanji, re-encounter Tashigi who reveals being a marine and it irks at Ichiji's temper. she accuses Zoro for "tricking" her and Zoro is more unnerved by her uncanny resemblance to Kuina.
Ichiji's temper is finally pushed when Tashigi badmouths pirates. being raised by a pirate who sacrificed his leg for him and his brother, being raised among ex-pirate turned cooks and being a pirate himself, Ichiji has nothing but respect for them. marines, however, are the scum of earth for him. he, more or less, explodes.
"Marines...more like tyrants with too much power at hand and playing demi-god! I've lived my whole life on a restaurant that doesn't discriminate pirates, marines or civilians and YET, only marines has the gall to act like spoiled, entitled and ungrateful bastards! I have heard about Axe-Hand Morgan and how he treated people like insects under his boot! And it has only strengthened my decision to never trust a marine, even if I lay dying on the ground. If you believe that you're better than anyone, just because you happened to be a marine, then lay off! Marines doesn't save pr protect people! They want to control them like puppets!"
Zoro and Sanji ends up dragging Ichiji off his feet as he's going off. Zoro subdues Ichiji by pressing on "pressure point on Ichiji's back, forcing him to become relaxed and half-conscious. Sanji whispers to Zoro that marines is pretty much a berserk button for Ichiji and vaguely mentions there was an incident at the Baratie when they were fifteen, but he have no details except Zeff told him to never mention it if he wants to keep his ass from looking like a jolly roger.
the straw hats ends up successful in their escape and realizing that they can no longer linger in the East Blue, they set course straight to the Grand Line. but not before they have a cast off ceremony and make a pledge for their dreams.
Ichiji pledges to write and chronicle the adventures of the greatest Pirate King, Monkey D. Luffy.
So glad you enjoyed the One Piece live action! I haven't seen it, but does Sanji smoke in it like he does in the manga? If so, I have two requests based on the same premise lol.
Sanji x Reader where his partner gets him to give up his smoking habit
And a Nami x Reader where Nami gets the reader to stop smoking by using her pickpocketing skills to slip him a tangerine everytime he reaches for his lighter.
And if he doesn't smoke, maybe just a Nami x Reader where Reader is part of Zoro and Sanji's bickering, and Nami is sick of the competing between the three so flirts with R to fluster him so much it ends the argument entirely?
Nami x male!reader
"I didn't need your help," you huff, returning to the ship after fighting a group of pirates on the island you were docked at.
"That guy would have put his sword right through your chest if it wasn't for me so you're welcome," Sanji says matter of factly.
"He's right Y/N he totally saved your ass," Zoro adds just to piss you off.
"Don't start Zoro I seem to remember saving you when four pirates ambushed you at once," you quip.
"I would have beaten them," he says rolling his eyes.
"Sure you would have bud," Sanji laughs.
The three of you continue bickering about who's the best fighter, Nami watching annoyed in the background.
You and her have had a will they won't they ever since you joined the crew and it was reaching a breaking point.
She was over the three of you constantly arguing so she did the only thing she knew would get it to stop.
"You think you could take me tough guy?" She asks confidently, joining in on the conversation.
"Well I-" you mutter, turning around to face her.
"Would let you win," Sanji says under his breath.
"I mean, Nami, you're an incredible navigator but you don't exactly have a lot of experience fighting," you reply.
"So? I've learned a lot over the last few months watching you guys, I think I could surely get you on your back," Nami smirks, stepping closer to you.
Sanji and Zoro look at each other knowing full well that you had a thing for her and this was making you quite flustered.
Flustered enough to make you stare at her, mouth hanging open and completely dumbfounded.
"What? You wouldn't like me on top of you?" she says leaning in to whisper in your ear, "that's a shame, I think you would look real good underneath me."
You're left speechless with Sanji and Zoro snickering as Nami proudly struts off to help Usopp get the ship headed in the right direction of the next island.
"She shut you up real quick," Zoro grins.
"Did she get you all hot and bothered mate?" Sanji laughs.
"I hate both of you," you say, trying to collect yourself.
Luffy then comes back to the ship's deck, arms full of snacks, "hey Sanji what's for dinner?" He says with his mouth full, "you okay Y/N your face is all red and stuff."
You dramatically sigh and head to your bunk to cool down.
"Was it something I said?" Luffy asks, looking between Zoro and Sanji but they just burst out laughing leaving Luffy even more confused.
It's Just Business Three
YOU THOUGHT I FORGOT? NEVER!
Look at that face! Look!
Fandom: One Piece (LA mainly)
Rating: Teen so far
Pairing: Sanji/Reader
Warnings: No real warnings, but god, I hope you like pining
Summary: You felt like you had known Sanji forever, considering your family had been the main merchants Zeff used to supply the Baratie. You had a small crush on him, but knew it was hopeless considering you were the one woman he didn't seem to pine over.
It was fine. Or so you thought until you ended up on the Going Merry as a bookkeeper and supply manager. Being around him 24/7 was a lot more difficult than just a few days a week.
(Please note 》°《 denotes a scene in the past while -*- will be a regular scene break. Because yeah, I like my non-linear story telling.)
Masterpost | Ao3
You weren’t unfamiliar with fighting. After all, merchant ships attracted pirates like honey attracted flies.
But damn, the fishman pirates were really of a different breed. You were on the defensive more than anything, blocking blows and only able to land a few potshots in retaliation. You could feel bruises already blooming from where you got hit, the unsettling feeling of blood trickling from various wounds.
But you didn’t give up. How could you when the others kept bravely fighting? Zoro’s blades danced in the air with unnatural graces against the other pirates, the man barely waivering despite the fact he still had his massive injuries from Mihawk. And Sanji was far more skilled than yourself considering he trained regularly with Zeff, his long legs proving to be far stronger than they looked.
Except as much as they fought against Arlong's pirates, the two men were bickering heatedly amongst themselves too - which was not helping anyone except the enemy.
“Will you two stop fighting!” You snarled as you ended up between the green-hair swordsman and the blond chef--both literally and figuratively. “Beat these assholes and then have at it for all I care, but god damn if we lose I am going to murder you both.”
Zoro shot you a dark look, as if to silently scoff at the fact you could even hope to beat him - you couldn’t, but you would try your best, god damn it - before he rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to the fishmen that were regrouping.
Sanji however, frowned as he looked you over and stepped closer to wipe blood from your lip. “I told you that you should have stayed back on the ship, or even the village.”
You glared at him. “The only orders I take are the ones I get paid for,” You shot back. “Just ‘cause you’re stronger than me doesn’t make you my boss.”
His frown deepened. "That's not what I meant. I just mean you'd be safer back on the Going Merry."
"We all would, but that's not why we came, is it?" You hated the fact he had been right about Nami, but you hated Arlong and his crew more for what they did to the young woman. You had gripped Sanji’s hand tightly when you heard Nami softly ask Luffy for help, full of rage on her behalf for what the bastards had done. He had squeezed back as he took a drag of his cigarette, as if silently promising that you would get revenge on her behalf.
"I thought you said something about fighting them, not each other," Zoro yelled out, three swords holding back the pirates while you and Sanji argued.
"Mind your damn own business!" You and Sanji snarled at the green haired swordsman at the same time.
You were fairly certain you heard Zoro curse you both, swearing something about waiters and bossy women. You ignored his comment as Sanji darted for one of the gray-skinned fishmen, and you followed suit.
-*-
It had been a knife in your heart when Sanji greeted Nami so warmly, sounding so elated to see the red-head.
Yet the fact she passed him and went for Zoro and Usopp made you cackle heartedly despite yourself, going as far as leaning on the dejected man as you tried to calm your laughter. (The mix of the battle high and relief it was over may have made you a bit unusually giggly.)
“It’s not that funny,” He grumbled, though at the same time his arm wrapped around your waist to help steady you.
“I’m sorry,” You wheezed, pressing your head against his shoulder. “You just… and she didn’t even pause. My poor boy, I don’t think she’s that into you.”
Sanji was quiet as you calmed yourself, though his arm never left your waist, or even loosened the smallest bit. “Sometimes a woman requires a bit of wooing,” He defended once your laughter died away, making you snort. “Nami’s been through a rough time, so of course she’d run to her friends.”
You tried to keep the smile on your face despite any trace of humor draining from your heart. He was in deep this time, wasn’t he?
It was probably a good thing you’d be parting ways, so you didn’t have to watch him try to woo her, as he said. Even if it meant you wouldn’t see him for who knew how long. Or the fact the idiot could die out on the open sea and you would never see him again. Never see the humor in his bright blue eyes, lips twitching in a smile. Never be able to bicker good-naturedly with him, arguing just for the sake of arguing. Or just feel at home with his casual touch--he was one of the very few who you felt safe enough to indulge in that need for physical touch.
Sanji spoke your name softly, drawing you from your thoughts. “You okay?” He asked as you looked up and was able to see worry pinching his eyebrows together.
You offered a weak smile. “Yeah, just tired all of a sudden. Adrenaline must be wearing off.”
The concerned expression didn’t leave despite the soft smile on his lips. His thumb rubbed along the curve of your wait reassuringly as he pulled you closer. "Once Luffy's finished, we'll head back and I'll make a big meal, okay? Just hang in there until then.
Oh, it wasn't the immediate future you were worried about. But you nodded your head nevertheless, and tried to enjoy what short time you had left with your friend before you parted ways.
~*~
Despite your obvious exhaustion, you assisted with preparing the celebratory meal that night, for which Sanji was thankful. You weren’t exactly one of the line cooks of the Baratie, but you knew enough that he didn’t have to worry once he explained his initial idea of a large stir-fry.
He was looking forward to more of this; the adventure, fulfilling his dream of finding the All Blue, Zeff’s dream. But also sharing it all with you. Seeing you more than just a few times a week, stealing short moments between both your duties and his.
The two of you had always been close and had shared a few small (and some not so small) adventures through the years. He couldn’t lie to himself, his feelings for you were far from platonic, but the problem was you thought you knew him too well and never believed he was being serious as he tried to flirt. No matter how close he held you, or how many times he pressed kisses to you head and hand while calling you sweetheart, you thought he was just kidding. That it was all platonic.
He wasn’t sure how you were going to react when --if-- you ever realized the truth.
》°《
Zeff frowned as he looked down at you and Sanji, both of you out of breath and covered in sweat as you sat back to back. "You two shrimps are pitiful, really."
You grumbled as you leaned against Sanji, trying to catch your breath. He had been beating your ass fairly, though at least you had given him a work out.
"We've been doing this all afternoon," Sanji shot back, still full of spit and vinegar in his small body despite everything. "Let her have a break, and I'll fight you instead."
You moved to look at him, confused. He… was defending you? After the fact you were in this position because you had been fighting in the pantry?
Zeff laughed, his arms crossed in front of his chest that was probably bigger than both you and Sanji combined. "You think you can take me, little eggplant?"
Even with one just a thin pegleg, you knew to challenge Zeff was a death wish. Your parents had told you stories of Red Leg Zeff of the Cook Pirates, likely in an attempt to make you behave when aboard the Baratie.
Yet despite knowing how harsh Zeff truly could be, Sanji only glared harder. "I'd rather take you than force her to do any more training."
Zeff smirked, though his expression softened. "You little shit. How about you go scrounge up some lunch for you both and take a rest. And maybe next time you won't be so prone to starting fights."
The captain-chef turned and left you and Sanji alone on the deck. You groaned as you tried to flop down on the slatted wood, except Sanji wrapped an arm around your shoulders and kept you sitting up. How he still had any energy or strength was beyond you. You felt boneless. Or maybe more like all your bones had been shattered.
"You heard the old bastard," Sanji said as he pulled you up as if you were just an overly large flour bag. "Let's go get you some food."
"God, how do you have energy?" You whined as he helped you back inside.
"I train at least twice a day, more if I piss the geezer off,” was his grumbled answer.
What little energy you could spare was used to have a flash of empathy for him; you couldn't imagine having to do this twice a day. "So, you’re Mr. Fancypants in the kitchen and on the battlefield."
He shot you a smile that looked a lot like Zeff’s when he was somewhat proud of something. "Heh, guess you could say that."
Chapter Seventy-Five: The Forgotten Three
(a.k.a. How Did They Even Forget You?)
It was supposed to be a quick stop.
Just a casual little island for refueling, resupplying, and maybe a bite to eat before setting sail again. No combat. No weird statues. No curses. Easy.
You helped unload a few barrels, stole a fruit off a merchant’s cart (with Nami’s permission and a very obvious wink), and wandered off with Zoro and Sanji as they bickered about where to find “the real food” in town.
You were gone for maybe an hour. Maybe.
And by the time the three of you returned to the docks…
The Sunny was gone.
You stared at the empty sea in front of you. Zoro blinked. Sanji squinted.
“…Did we dock somewhere else?” you asked, slowly, like maybe you were the problem.
“No,” Sanji said flatly. “We didn’t.”
Zoro turned. “Are we sure the ship was even here?”
You stared at him. “Zoro. I walked you off it.”
He shrugged. “Could’ve been a different ship.”
“IT’S A LION-HEAD SHIP—” Sanji pinched the bridge of his nose. “They forgot us.”
“No way,” you said, still half-laughing. “They couldn’t have.”
You all stood there in silence. The waves lapped. Seagulls cackled above. Your eye twitched.
“They totally did.”
—--
Luffy stretched across the deck, belly full, sighing in satisfaction.
“Nice island,” he grinned. “Good food.”
Nami counted coins nearby. “All the supplies are accounted for.” Robin nodded. “We’re only missing—” She paused. Brows furrowed. “…Zoro, Sanji, and (Y/N).”
Usopp blinked. “Wait. They’re not on board?”
Chopper gasped. “I thought it was too quiet!”
Franky coughed. “...I might have pulled the anchor too early.”
Everyone slowly turned to Nami.
She crossed her arms. “Good. They need to learn.”
Luffy blinked. “Learn what?”
She rolled her eyes. “To stop getting distracted by food, swords, and breasts.”
—--
“So let me get this straight,” you said, pacing along the dock. “We were left behind because we were the distracted ones?”
“I wasn’t distracted,” Zoro muttered. “You got lost in a square market.” “I was looking at fish.” “Exactly!”
Sanji flopped down on a crate with a dramatic sigh, cigarette already lit. “Well, this is our punishment. The rest of them abandoned us like some kind of bad sitcom subplot.”
You groaned. “How do you even forget a person like me?! I’m loud! I’m—me!”
Zoro smirked. “Maybe they wanted some quiet for once.”
You whipped around. “Excuse me?”
“Wouldn’t be surprised if they planned it,” Sanji muttered. “We’re the chaos trio. Probably thought leaving us behind would give the rest of the ship some peace.”
You blinked. Paused. “…That is very fair.”
—--
You built a mini-camp near the dock out of spite.
Zoro sharpened his swords. Sanji cooked over a makeshift fire like it was a gourmet setup. You climbed the highest rock nearby and yelled “TRAITORS” into the wind at full volume. Three times.
Luffy’s laughter echoed faintly from the sea, and your eye twitched.
—---
The Sunny returned as the sun dipped low, golden light casting long shadows across the island.
Luffy waved from the figurehead like nothing was wrong. “OH HEY! WE CAME BACK!”
You stood with your arms crossed, sand in your hair, and vengeance in your heart.
Nami shouted, “That was your punishment! You’re lucky you took snacks!”
Sanji leapt aboard first, muttering about mutiny and dignity. Zoro followed with a sigh.
You stayed at the edge, staring down the crew.
Luffy grinned. “You mad?”
You marched up the ramp, grabbed him by the vest, and hissed, “Next time you leave me behind, I will make it my entire personality.”
He laughed. “Okay!”
—----
The crew welcomed you back with cheers, laughter, and—yes—snacks. And you, slightly sandy and slightly betrayed, plopped down in your usual spot, grumbling into your drink.
“Forget me,” you muttered. “I swear... I’ll give them something to remember next time.”
Robin patted your shoulder with a smile. “Oh, I’m sure you will.”
—-----
It happened again.
Except this time, it wasn’t Nami’s punishment. Or Zoro getting lost. Or Sanji arguing about fish quality with a local chef.
It was just… bad timing. One supply run, one massive seaquake, and one very inconveniently timed fog later—
The Thousand Sunny was gone. And you were standing barefoot on an uninhabited island. With Zoro. And Sanji.
Again.
Day One, Hour One: The Realization
You stared at the empty sea.
Zoro scratched his head. Sanji lit a cigarette. You looked between them and said, flatly, “I am going to scream.”
Zoro muttered, “They probably didn’t notice.” Sanji exhaled. “Or they thought we were on board when they set sail.”
You turned slowly. “Are we cursed? Are we the problem? Is it us?”
Zoro grunted. “It’s definitely not me.”
“YOU’RE ALWAYS LOST.”
Sanji sighed through his teeth. “Arguing won’t bring them back.”
You flopped dramatically into the sand. “This is my villain origin story.”
Day One, Hour Three: Assessing the Situation
After your initial meltdown, you got to work. Well… you got to work.
Zoro napped under a tree like this was a paid vacation. Sanji explored the edge of the forest for anything remotely edible. You dragged driftwood into a semi-circle near a rock outcrop.
“Where did you even learn to build shelter like this?” Sanji asked as he returned with some wild fruit.
“Street smarts. Pirate training. Trauma,” you replied casually. “Take your pick.”
Zoro snorted from his spot in the shade. You threw a stick at him. It bounced off his head.
Day One, Hour Five: Hunger, Part 1
Sanji refused to let anyone eat until he’d verified the fruit was safe. This led to ten minutes of intense sniffing, slicing, and monologuing about food safety.
You bit into one anyway. He screamed. You gave him a thumbs-up, juice dripping down your chin.
“It’s fine.”
“It could’ve been poisonous!”
“I’ve eaten worse on purpose.”
Zoro took a bite too. “Tastes like melon.”
Sanji dropped dramatically to his knees. “I’m surrounded by idiots.”
Day One, Hour Seven: The Fire Problem
You tried to make a fire. You really did. Sanji tried too.
Zoro? Zoro was asleep again. Useless. Built like a god, but absolutely decorative.
You glared at the damp pile of sticks. “We could signal them,” you muttered. “If we had FIRE.”
Sanji’s eye twitched. “I cook with fire every day. Why can’t I make one now?”
You flopped beside him and groaned. “We’re going to die here.”
“You say that every time you’re hungry.”
“I mean it this time.”
You locked eyes. Exhausted. Covered in sand. A bruise on your thigh from a surprise coconut.
Then you burst out laughing at the exact same time.
Day One, Night One: The Shared Camp
By nightfall, the three of you were huddled under a makeshift canopy of palm leaves and bad decisions.
The sky was full of stars. Your hair was full of sand. Sanji had finally managed to light a pathetic little fire with the help of sheer rage and Zoro’s spare flint.
Zoro leaned against a tree, arms crossed, eyes closed. Sanji leaned on the opposite side of the camp, tossing pebbles into the dark. You lay between them, sprawled out, arms flung over your eyes.
“Think they’ll come back tomorrow?” you asked.
“Nope,” Zoro said without hesitation. Sanji sighed. “Maybe the day after.”
You groaned. “Again. How do they keep forgetting us?”
Silence. Then:
“We’re the loudest ones,” Zoro muttered. “Too much energy,” Sanji agreed. “They assume we’re always around,” you finished.
You all paused.
“…We’re the background chaos,” you whispered, realization dawning. “They think we’re unleavable.”
Zoro smirked. “Guess we’re too reliable.”
You rolled onto your side, looked at the fire, and mumbled, “Well, at least we’re stranded with people we can tolerate.”
“Barely,” Sanji muttered. Zoro snored.
You smiled.
Day One: Survived. Day Two? Pending.
BUT THIS IS ONLY A SEGUESTION PLS JUST WRITE FOR NAMI😭😭😭
thank you can't wait to read any other nami fics🤭
angel of the morning- nami x reader
(slight allusions to smut again LMFAO)
nami’s never considered herself much of a religous person. if she believed in heaven, she’d have to believe in god, and everything else that comes with it.
but if she did believe in all that, she’d swear she was in heaven right now. your sleeping form in front of her, early rays of sunlight peeking in, shining on your face. that’s what eventually wakes you up, (e/c) eyes focusing in on the bright blue ones watching you.
“mornin’, baby.” nami greets you, brushing a piece of hair away from your face. you smile, putting your hand over hers, holding it to your face and leaning into her touch.
“good morning.” you greet her sleepily. “how long have you been up?”
nami shrugs, genuinely not knowing. watching you tended to blur hours and minutes together for her, all the time in the world not feeling like enough to take in your beauty. “everyone else is still asleep. it’s just us.”
“we better rest up before luffy wakes up.” you tell her. “not a moment of peace with that one.”
nami laughs softly, nodding. “turn around.”you oblige, nami scooting in behind you, putting an arm around your waist to pull you close. “better?”’
you nod, blissful and content. “better.”
nami smiles, tangling her legs with yours as she closes her eyes again. just before she’s about to drift back off, a door slams open down the hall from her.
“good morning, crew!” luffy’s voice booms, the two of you groaning sleepily as he makes his way down the hall, still talking about something or another.
“nami, y/n! wake up! sanji’s making breakfast—sanji! don’t fall back asleep, cmon!”
“i wonder what it’s like having that much energy.” you marvel, sitting up in bed. you run a hand through your messy hair, trying to keep it from falling back in your face.
“here,” nami offers you her bandana from her bedside table.
“can you tie it for me?” nami obliges, taking a moment to admire her handiwork when she’s done.
“prettiest pirate on the sea.” nami marvels, heat rising to your cheeks.
“you’re tied with me.” you counter. nami leans in, pressing a sweet, loving kiss to your lips. just as you’re about to lean back in, there are three more raps at your door.
“okay guys! he’s up for real this time! sanji, come on, i’m—we’re hungry!”
the two of you walk hand in hand to the kitchen, sleepy as ever, but content. there are two cups of tea already set out, sanji being used to you two waking up first. nami leans her head into your shoulder as you sip yours, you resting your head on top of hers.
“could you two at least wait till noon before making the rest of us feel single?” sanji teases you, laying out the ingredients for breakfast.
“never.” nami deadpans. “you’ll see, you get a girlfriend like this, you won’t want to be apart from her either.”
“oh, the rest of us know just how much you don’t want to be apart from her.” zoro chimes in, taking his own mug and sitting across from you two. “didn’t i just talk to you two about how thin these walls are?”
“what’s wrong with the walls?” luffy asks, not catching on to zoro’s implication.
“nothing-“
“oh, PLEASE tell him.” sanji laughs, nami scowling before she whips her head back around to zoro. “don’t you DARE-“
“well, luffy, when two people love each other very much-“
“zoro-“
“if i have to suffer through it-“
you watch the two of them bicker, their voices increasing in annoyance while luffy’s face grows in confusion, and amidst all the chaos, you laugh.
mornings on the going merry with your friends and girlfriend couldn’t get better.
Spoiler free review for Netflix's live action One Piece!
WOW.
A lot of stuff to love! I absolutely ADORE this take on the adventure of the Straw Hat Pirates!
The Straw Hats are all cast perfectly, the supporting cast is spot on. Everyone NAILS their characters!
Give the man a crown!
Iñaki Godoy as Luffy is goofy and oblivious in all the right ways. He sticks the perfect landing of the emotional intelligence that was crucial to bring the deeper side of Luffy to life, and doesn't neglect the hyperactive child side either! Seeing him gleefully bounce around - both in and out of fights- was special. The CGI was pretty good! Better than I expected, really. I appreciate making Luffy a little more level-headed, it's a good choice to tone down the chaos goblin for live action 🤣
It was magnificent to see Luffy grow into a "real" pirate in this arc, and he will be the KING!
Mackenyu as Zoro is a bit "too cool" but honestly I expected it to happen, people tend to overlook the fact that 90% of the time he's just as dumb as Luffy 🤷 but MAN is he cool. He really surpassed my expectations for the fight scenes, and did not skip on the brutality! 3 Sword Style was stunningly realized and incredible fun to watch- even without drawing a single blade!
His one liners and sarcasm are on point, ESPECIALLY regarding Sanji 🤣
Emily Rudd as Nami is INCREDIBLE. Smart as a whip and wily as ever, this cat burglar lands on her feet! In and out of combat, Nami is quick on her feet and with her wit. One Piece passes the Bechdel test once again, and her story is every bit the emotional powerhouse as its manga and anime counterparts- better in some moments! 'Nuff said.
Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp is delightful, though unfortunately he doesn't get as much time to shine as the others. When he does though, it's fantastic!
He really got the little things down about the character without needing to be as over the top as his counterparts- a bullseye from the sniper!
Sanji is perfect as well, you can SEE the training Taz Skylar went through for the part, from the mouth watering food to the killer martial arts. Every bit as fun to watch as the rest of the Monster Trio! My expectations for him were already high, and he kicked them into the stratosphere.
I'm glad they toned down the flirting, they found the right balance and played it well. Sanji matches Zoro in the bickering spectacularly, an absolute must that exceeded my hopes in both of their performances.
I'm not gonna list everyone but because I love this stupid fucking clown:
Jeff Ward as Buggy is an absolute TREAT, I am a huge fan of this take on the character. The perfect storm of bumbling dipshit who wants to be taken seriously, but still pretty intimidating at times. LOVE it. His jokes are GOLD.
Speaking of! Gold Roger, the man who started it all! *mwah!* Dazzling performances from him AND the Marines.
The few nitpicks I have are minor, the childhood acting ranges from ok to abysmal, Lily Fisher as young Nami is a notable standout. Some of the "minor" characters suffer from wooden acting, but honestly that's about the worst of it.
The Fishmen look a little low budget in their early appearances, but are absolutely PERFECT when they are the ones in the spotlight. Absolutely phenomenal work from McKinley Belcher III, my biggest fear from this was Arlong being done wrong and he CRUSHED IT!
The soundtrack was rousing, it truly felt like a call to adventure! And above all the SET DESIGN 😭
They TRULY brought the world that Oda Senseii has been drawing for us all these years, to life.
And now, anime One Piece is trending on Netflix.
THE GREAT PIRATE ERA IS HERE!
Here's to hoping Netflix doesn't Netflix it 🍻
What did you think?
Especially if this is your introduction to One Piece, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts!
So I haven’t talked about it here but I’ve been watching One Piece and have thus far resisted shipping anyone. But as I get through Water 7...
I have many many thoughts that I have been violently pushing away so I can appreciate the friendships therein, and I still love the friendships that form, like GOD the friendships and bonds are SO GOOD. But I have been, and always will be, a shipper, so I expanded on a series of tweets I made last night!
I can respect and understand that there isn't a whole lot of canon shipping in One Piece and I do enjoy the tight bonds of friendship that take romance's place.
But I also cannot ignore the Monster Trio OT3 that's staring RIGHT AT ME. Or, even better than that, to make it angsty and bittersweet, Zoro pining over Luffy knowing that Luffy will never notice, and at first just starting to mess around with Sanji as a means to try and distract himself, but then he eventually starts to enjoy sleeping with Sanji (it’s better when they’re not bickering, but also the angry sex is a lot of fun), but he also knows Sanji thinks he's so pathetic for having a crush on the captain, you know, the captain who has never in his life shown romantic interest in anyone, so eventually Zoro lashes out at Sanji.
"I’m pathetic? What, and you're not pathetic for all the swooning you do over Nami and Robin?"
Sanji just chuckles at him, agreeing that he knows he has no real chance with either of them. "But knowing that doesn't stop the feelings, does it?"
An understanding passes between them, and after that conversation, Zoro doesn't give Sanji as much shit about his womanizing, because he knows Sanji is still going to do it even if they are kind of a thing, and if Sanji notices Zoro watching Luffy too closely during the day and then holding onto Sanji a little tighter when they're in bed at night, he doesn't say anything.
I'm in the thick of Water 7 right now so these are my feelings based on the Straw Hats at this point in time. Episode 260 is where I stopped last night and hell yeah, 260 was a good stopping point after posting these thoughts because well. [motions at these screenshots]
In the most respectful manner possible, Luffy says jump, and Zoro doesn't even ask how high because he already knows, and he'd do anything for his captain without question.
When I have more episodes under my belt, I’ll probably write for these three. Because why not?
#one piece#riley watches one piece#zoroxsanji#zoroxluffy#zoroxluffyxsanji#monster trio OT3#ehhhh sorry for putting this in the main tag#I'm new here#long post for ts#zolu#zosan#zolusan#sanzo#luzo#idk all the ship tags ahdlskdhd
I love trans women usopp. She would be so pretty but still be the same goofy ass usopp as usual. She still lies (she likes to add flirtatious charm or empathy. Babe learned how to cry on command.) Still cowers, dramatic as fuck and bickers with her crew
Sanji would swoon and act a fool towards as he does to Robin and Nami. During fights he jumps in wanting to protect her. 'Don't worry usopp darling! I'll save you! My sweet!'. Before he could finish his affections she's already sprinted the fuck out of there with out hesitation.
She's more touchy with Robin and uses her a Zoro 2.0 and hides behind her and drags her into her shenanigans. Robin likes to use a disembodied hand to shove her or smack the back of the head if she does something stupid. (Platonically of course you know the straw hats. Their Love language is physical violence towards each other)
Her dynamic with Nami did not change. They still cower in fear together, run away together, fight together and yell at Luffy together. They've only gotten closer, they even started fighting with each other more.
Her relationship with Zoro didn't change that much either girly still be yelling at him and criticizing his sense of direction. They still fight with each other, call each other names. Zoro still sees usopp as his equal she's still usopp. Is she still a liar, she's still over dramatic, Still a coward but she never misses her target and that's all he cares about. If only she'd stop nagging him.
She still thinks Franky is cool and is amazed by his engineering. His poses tho are kind of lame to her now but in a cute way. She will laugh whenever he does it. Franky sees her as a little sister which isn't saying much because he used to see her as a little brother. Brook is the same, nothing changed but he does ask her about her panties and you wouldn't believe this but she did let him see them. once!! and only once she was very strict about that and he never asked again.
Her and Luffy are still best friends and still good off. They're still very touchy and grabby. (I love how he doesn't see women's bodies as inherently sexual he just sees them as bodies) He still will wrestle with her, wraps around her and fall asleep next to her or on top of her. He has landed on top of her many times and she has yelled at him many times that he can't do that anymore! her boobs aren't cushions they hurt!
The only real change was sanji (I ship them but for the sake of this post it's one sided) sanji is a gentleman chivalry is his policy and he will treat any lady with the utmost respect (At least that's what he tells himself) he makes her drinks, treats and puts a lot of effort into the dinners that she eats like the other girls. When she started transitioning and developing he started going nuts for her. Usopp ate that shit up not only was it gender euphoric to be treated like the other women but she can ask sanji to do or buy her anything and he'll do it. She fucking loves attention that hasn't changed
Sometimes he'll revert back to his old ways with her especially when they get into an argument. He doesn't care if she's a gorgeous woman with pretty hair, a luscious body and smells like lemon and rosemary! (He does care. He cares so much. It's pathetic) stop bitching and start fishing!... Please darling.
Her fashion sense tho. It's the same but better She has sun hats, cabbie hats, brimmed braise, regular berets, beanies, buckets, cloche, and so many headbands. Short overalls, baggy overalls, jumpsuits of various sizes. She doesn't like wearing shirts she never did, unlike the other women on the boat she doesn't like letting her girls loose. It's not practical or functional for her line of work. She wears a sports bra or something with great support. Her favorite top is a high neck sports bra with a zipper in the front. Her hair is usually in a protective hair style. French braids with Afro puffs in the back or regular ponytail. She likes to let it down sometimes but it gets in the way. She's not that girly but she still wants to turn heads
In short she didn't really change and her crew treats her the same and the changes that did happen benefited her
See??? You send me asks like this one and then I don't have anything else to say because everything here is just perfect!!!
Transfem Usopp has changed my life for the better and this whole text is so so beautiful because this is exactly how I imagine her dynamics with the crew!!
#it's perfect thank you#you cheered me up with this honestly i was feeling a lil sad this morning#so thank you anon <33#one piece#usopp#transfem usopp#strawhat pirates
Okay so I watched the live action One Piece...
It was so good I genuinely couldn't believe it????
Like I liked? all... of it??
About halfway through the first episode I ended up sitting on the floor in front of the tv, eating chips, feeling like a ten year old watching Saturday morning cartoons. (Except I grew up without tv so I guess I felt more like what I assume a ten year old watching Saturday morning cartoons feels like. Perhaps that's why I enjoyed it so much? Who knows lol.)
I was ~captivated~ I enjoyed the whole experience so much. I haven't fully felt like this in a year and a half so it was genuinely nice to watch something that was familiar to me while simultaneously analyzing the differences. It was super fun!
There were even parts I thought the live action did better than the anime!
Shocking I know. But!
I loved watching Zoro and Nami bicker and actually like each other. I always got the vibe in the anime (at least early on) that they were cousins that only pretended to get alone for the sake of their other cousin that they actually got along with. (If they didn't try to get along Luffy would cry and neither of them can stand that.)
And Nami just being more chill and badass in general was super nice. I feel like her and Luffy were the two that were changed the least and it really worked for them.
Luffy! Perfect casting. Him not knowing wtf he's doing as a captain and then muddling through the best he could for the people he knew were depending on him. And figuring out his powers along the way? So interesting.
Usopp being adorable! He's trying his best! He's just some guy but the whole crew will gas him up! (also I screamed when he and Kaya kissed frfr.)
Sanji being bad at flirting? Amazing. Everyone he flirts with going "Ew no." was perfect. (Literally the most annoying part of his character is his over the top fawning over women like can you just chill? for once in your life can you just be normal? I love him when he's not being a hound dog and put up with him when he is but i'm rolling my eyes SO hard behind his back.)
Helmeppo and Coby trying to speed-run enemies to friends to lovers. I'm so here for it. (Garp and Coby playing go and Helmeppo going "Dude wtf he's playing u are u dumb" *chefs kiss*)
Buggy! His actor...👀 but Buggy himself 🤮 (jk he was great him being genuinely menacing in the beginning and then in the end flipping off both Zoro and Sanji and then running away was hilarious.)
And of course my wife Roronoa Zoro. That introduction scene was *fans self* something. I was iffy on his actor in the gifs i saw but him in action is... very nice.
And then that's not even touching on the actual real sets and the fun fight scenes and the practical make up!
Final thoughts:
They managed to condense 45 episodes into 8 in way that made sense while keeping the main story beats intact.
And they did a good job all around.
#aka it was good and i really liked it#spoilers#my shit#it did weirdly bring up a memory from 20ish years ago when i was visiting my aunt#sitting in front of her tv eating chips and my mom walked in and looked at me in horror#and told me i wasn't allowed to sit in front of the tv and eat chips like that#i felt bad for a second before i remembered that i was 30 and can do whatever the fuck i want
